PENNY DALE

 

BIOGRAPHY

Penny Dale was born in London in 1954, did her foundation course at Bristol Polytechnic Faculty of Art & Design and then completed her degree at Exeter College of Art & Design. She had a number of jobs in theatre before starting her career in children's books, where she has written just over half of the books she has illustrated. Her books have met with great success; Bet You Can't, and Once There Were Giants, were included in the UK SATS booklist for many years. She has also won numerous awards. Wake Up, Mr B!, was commended for the Kate Greenaway Medal 1988. Rosie's Babies, won the Best Book for Babies Award 1990 and was also shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal 1990. Night Night Cuddly Bear and Ten in the Bed (board book), both won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Jamie and Angus, won the Boston Globe Horn Book Award 2003. Penny has sold over 3 million books worldwide and has been published in over 20 languages.

She now lives in south Wales with her husband.
